Focus on Dijon FCO

The Sochaliens face relegated Dijon FCO in their fourth preparation match of the season. It's a final test for the Dijonnais who are back in competition next Saturday with the start of their Ligue 2 season. Club focus on Dijon FCO.

Présentation

DFCO is a recently created club. They were founded in 1998 after a merger between two local clubs : Dijon FC and Cercle Sportif Laïque Dijonnais. At that time they started in the national amateur league, the CFA. The joined the third level, the National league in 2000 and reached the semi-finals of the French Cup in 2004. One year after this heroic event DFCO gained promotion into Ligue 2. After six seasons in the second tier of French professional football, the club managed to promote into the top flight in 2011. The Dijonnais ended up in 19th position in Ligue 1 and were unable to avoid relegation after only one season in the highest division. They are back in Ligue 2 for the 2012/2013 season.

Preparation

The Dijonnais started their training on June 22, one week before the Sochaliens. The played already four pre-season friendlies. After two draws against FC Sion (1-1) and GFC Ajaccio (1-1), the Bourguignons won twice against two newly promoted Ligue 1 sides Stade de Reims (1-0) and ESTAC Troyes (3-0). The friendly against FCSM is their last before the start of their Ligue 2 season on Saturday, July 27 versus EA Guingamp.

Trainer

As a player he wore the jerseys of RC Strasbourg eand Stade Rennais. Olivier Dall’Oglio ended his playing career in 1996. The next year he started his career as a trainer at Olympique d’Alès (CFA). After seven years with at the Academy and reserve team of Nîmes Olympique, he obtains his diploma as professional coach. He also works for the national team of the United Arabic Emirats before he joins Dijon FCO in 2010 as assistant-coach. In June 2012 he is appointed as head coach after the dismissal of Patrice Carteron.

They played for both clubs

Michaël Isabey, played 12 seasons at FCSM before he signed at Dijon FCO in 2009 where he continued for two more years. Florin Bérenguer, born in Montbéliard and raised at the Youth Academy of FCSM arrived in 2009 at Dijon and made 56 appearances for them. He will be in the line-up on Saturday.

Confrontations
FCSM and DFCO met each other five times in friendly matches since 2005. Sochaux won two matches (2005 and 2009), for one draw (in 2008) and two defeats (in 2006 and 2011). In official matches they played each other back in 1987/1988 in the former Second Division (two wins for the Sochaliens 3-0 and 2-0), and in the League Cup on October 2006 (5-0) at Stade Bonal. Last season both matches were very tight as the away game ended in a stalemate while FCSM obtained a precious win at home (1-0).
