Structure

The formation of a football player includes different periods specially accustomed to the characteristics of young players. The players of FC Sochaux-Montbéliard are defined into different categories of age.

The so called "école de foot", the football school, hosts about one hundred boys in the age from 6 till 12 years old. The next category is called the " pré-formation " in which play about 40 boys aged from 12 till 14. The group 16-18 years is as well composed of 40 adolescents. The last step before 'gaining maturity' as a player is called the " post-formation ", in which we'll find about twenty youngsters who are able to play in the reserve team or with the first team of FC Sochaux-Montbéliard.

Ten years ago, the policy of the Youth Academy of FCSM got a new boost when the club opened the " Centre de formation aux métiers du football Roland Peugeot ". The Academy is since then installed in Bannot Castle at Seloncourt, an ancient property of the Peugeot family. The domain of eleven hectares is fully equipped in order to give the young sportsmen the best standard of conditions to work on their abilities.

The Youth Academy is under the direction of Jean-Luc Ruty, a former player of FCSM, like a lot of other coaches in the different categories at FCSM.
